Veterinary Resources
At Bethel Mill Animal Hospital, we believe informed pet owners make confident decisions. We have gathered trusted veterinary resources to help you care for your dog or cat between visits. These links lead to respected third-party organizations that families across Gloucester County can rely on.
Emergency and Poison Control
In an emergency, quick action matters most. If you suspect your pet has swallowed something toxic, call a poison control hotline right away.
You can reach the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at 888-426-4435, any hour of any day. The Pet Poison Helpline is also available at 855-764-7661. A consultation fee may apply for either service.
For urgent problems when we are closed, please see our emergency referral list to find a nearby emergency hospital.
Lost Pets and Microchips
If you ever find a lost pet, you can check for a registered chip through the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup. This free tool identifies which registry a chip belongs to, which is often the first step toward a reunion.
Parasite Prevention and Nutrition
Preventing parasites and feeding well are two of the best things you can do for your pet.
The American Heartworm Society offers clear guidance on heartworm disease and prevention.
For fleas, ticks, and other parasites, Pets & Parasites from the Companion Animal Parasite Council is a helpful reference.
To learn more about feeding your dog or cat, the WSAVA nutrition resources provide practical, science-based advice.
Trusted Pet Health Information
The American Veterinary Medical Association offers a wide library of pet owner articles.
As an AAHA-accredited hospital, we also recommend the American Animal Hospital Association for trustworthy pet care information.
Because our team includes Fear Free certified members, you may enjoy Fear Free Happy Homes, which shares tips for easing pet stress at home.
As a Cat Friendly Practice, we point cat owners to Cat Friendly Homes for feline-specific guidance.
Behavior and Training
Behavior questions are common, and good information helps. For more serious concerns, a veterinary behaviorist can offer expert support. You can find a credentialed specialist through the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists.
Local New Jersey Resources
We are proud to serve the South Jersey community, and several local organizations support pet owners here.
The Gloucester County Animal Shelter in Clayton handles local adoptions and animal control.
The New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association offers statewide information and a directory of veterinary professionals.
Pet Loss Support
Losing a pet is never easy, and compassionate support can make a difference. The Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement offers grief resources, message boards, and guidance for pet owners during a difficult time.
